The philophy of Soarshare Studios has connection at its essence; achieving a sense of wonder through common experience.
I am the founder of Soashare Studios, and a graduate from the BFA program in Studio Art at Thompson Rivers University (TRU) in British Columbia. I was raised on a small dairy farm in Canada, spent a year living abroad in England, and now reside in Los Angeles, USA. A quiet rural setting living close to nature, the sense of community in small cities, and the bustle and activity of a large metropolis provide a rich framework to explore the intricate patterns of interconnectivity found within life. In our lives we reveal aspects of ourselves through daily mental, physical, and emotional patterns; all fuelled by creativity, communication, and interaction.
I use an interdisciplinary approach within my artistic practice, currently incorporating: printmaking (intaglio, relief, collagraph, digital, and the book arts), painting, and illustration. I am continually seeking ways to expand the various mediums available to me. Each of us is a combination of our previous experiences, so I see this variety in mediums as overlapping my exploration of life patterns, creating a mirroring of form and content. Each piece tells a story; from a broader perspective each story can be anything from the equivalent to a stream of consciousness diary entry to a significant chapter of my whole life story. The medium is chosen for qualities that best convey my pieces content.
Immersing myself in full time art making, coupled with working for art organizations, has led to my art being shown in four European countries, five American states, and four Canadian provinces. My work can also be found in various publications, both domestic and international. Below is an example of a page from my adult colouring book, "Flights of Fantasy", which will soon be available for purchase on Amazon.
